Usually if you think of designing a website, automatically there comes an idea of hiring designers. But for that you should be firstly, you should have an idea about what exact the web designing is. Select a color scheme and stick to it.

Background: Make sure that the color of your site should be in say a way, that a visitor’s can read what is written .e.g. (it should not be like this background color is black and text color is blue) because of this your visitor won’t be able to read clearly. 

External links:  It is a ideal to open links to other websites in a new window. In that manner your visitors can easily return to your site when they are finished browsing the external link.

Site map and search features: if your site is containing more page’s than it is important that your site must have a site map or search features, so that visitor on your site can find easily what they are looking for.
